Srinagar is the largest city and the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.  It is situated in the centre of the Kashmir Valley on the banks of the Jhelum River and is surrounded by five districts. In the north it is flanked by Kargil and Ganderbal in the South by Pulwama, in the north-west by Budgam. The city is famous for its gardens, lakes and houseboats. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dried fruits.

By Train :- Jammu Tawi is the closest railhead. Taxi services are available outside the railway station to reach the town.

By Road: - Private and public buses are available from Srinagar to Jammu, Pathankot, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun and Kotdwar.
